Classic Caramel Slice

Recipe Steps

Biscuit base

  • Ingredients:
    Brown sugar
    Self raising flour
    Desiccated coconut
    EOI Gateau Gold - melted
  • Method:
    Blend all dry ingredients in a mixing bowl and add melted EOI Gateau Gold. Mix with a flat beater attachment until well combined. Press base mixture into a lined baking tray.

    Bake at 180ºc for 12-15 min or until it gets a light golden brown colour

Caramel filling

  • Ingredients:
    Condensed milk
    Golden syrup
    EOI Gateau Gold - melted
  • Method:
    Mix well to combine. Pour filling over a cooled base and spread out evenly. Return to oven and bake at 180ºc for 15-20 min or until the caramel starts to bubble and go golden brown

Chocolate ganache topping

  • Ingredients:
    Dark Chocolate
    EOI Solite
  • Method:
    Melt the chocolate in a bain marie then whisk in the EOI Solite until combined. Pour over the cooled slice and allow to set before cutting.

Gateau Gold 15kg

Vegetable shortening for use in cakes, biscuits and crémes. Ideal as a partial or total replacement for butter. This product is virtually Trans Free and is suitable for vegetarian and vegan use.

Creaming shortening for butter style crémes and fudge icings.
